Can Classic run my favorite app?

We are working really hard on Certifying and enabling as many applications as we can to be Classic mode ready for the launch day.

As you can imagine we get many calls and requests and we are very pleased with the number of applications that Classic will be able to handle for Pre.

Just to see what we have in store for you, please check out these icons and logos…they might look rather familiar.

View Screen Shot Gallery >>>

Go ahead and see screenshots of a few most popular applications we already know will run successfully on Pre in our screenshot gallery.

As you might already know, Classic for Pre will be available for sale on June 6th.

We know that many of you wonder if some specific applications that you have and love will be available for Classic. Let us know what are those and we will try to incorporate them in our Classic Certification program.

Pls certify Audible Player and Audible Air. They play and download audiobooks, respectively. www.audible.com

Thanks!

Oh no, what happened to SlingPlayer for Palm? We don't see that icon on your list. Like all the other posters are saying, we need this app!!

Will Classic support SlingPlayer at launch?

I see DateBk6 in the list of Icons. If that is true, I'm in. Its the only "MUST HAVE" program there is. However, I see posts elsewhere on the net that say that Pimlico does not plan to make it available. What gives?

I agree with the post above!

SlingPlayer is an absolute MUST HAVE APP. I'm on this thing 90 minutes during my commute every day!

You guys nail this one and I'm in!

I would like to see HanDbase and Note Studio for sure because I have data in them that I use. Splash Photo and Pocket Lingo are other apps I use

Has Good Messaging been certified yet? That is one of the big ones and a must have for business users.

It looks like Slingplayer will be available for the Palm Pre natively without having to use Classic.

Check out the following vacancy at Slingmedia:

http://uk.slingmedia.com/get/job-sr-user-experience-designer.html

This includes the following paragraph:

Be knowledgeable about and/or interested in becoming an expert on the existing user interface paradigms used on iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, and Palm WebOS

I also saw (in one of my many feeds) a leaked document showing the applications that were expected to be available at or shortly after the launch of the Pre, and Slingmedia was in that list.

It really does seem that Slingmedia are creating a Slingplayer for the Palm Pre. I guess time will tell.

How do you intend to play Warfare without a stylus?

I would find it very hard to accept that your finger will give you the accuracy you need for that game...

ummm...okay. I was just answering the question you posed:

"Let us know what are those and we will try to incorporate them in our Classic Certification program."

SlingPlayer may be available native, but it can take Sling up to 6 months to release new versions.

SlingPlayer Palm is available today and it would be nice to use it when the Pre launches. To me (and others), it would be worth purchasing Classic just to avoid that wait.

SlingPlayer is a must have killer app!

Must-Haves I haven't seen running on Classic yet:
AutoBase
TripDeluxe
ShadowPlan
WorkoutTracker
TreoWeather
QuickMemo

Based on all the suggestions and votes we received from users and entire community we have invited a number of developers whose applications were most often requested to join the program. Many have joined already.
Classic Certification Program is open and available to anyone who has a Palm OS app and is interested in certifying. In other words, it really is not up to us but up to the respective companies to join up and get their apps certified for Classic - and we will do all we can to help the process.

Goodlink/GMM! I cannot believe that this will not be available in Classic!

Slingplayer Mobile is a dealbreaker for me.

It's this simple:

If Slingplayer runs satisfactorily on top of Classic, then I'll buy a Pre and I'll buy Classic (a native version of Slingplayer for WebOS is undoubtedly many months away). If Classic doesn't support Slingplayer, I'll stick with my Treo until Slingmedia releases the native version or I'll buy something else.

Classic MUST support Slingplayer.

MUSHBONE, I couldn't agree with you more.

To me and many others a Classic purchase is directly tied to SlingPlayer compatibility.

If Classic runs SlingPlayer, I buy it!

So, here we are 11 days into the Pre Era ... and still no word as to whether Classic will run Slingplayer Mobile?

Certainly someone has tried it by now. Can anyone give us a report as to whether it works or doesn't work?

Hello? Anyone?

Bueller? Bueller?
