Voice Memo recorder now comes as a free app in Classic!
We did it. You can now download and install Voice Memo application in Classic and thus record any sound you wish to “remember” for later. The Voice Memo application will allow for recording and playing the sound files you record. You can also access your recordings from native Music application on your Pre, and manipulate the files in a way you do with other sound files within Music app.

Two Classic versions after webOS 1.3.5 update – how to handle this
We’ve seen reports in PreCentral forums, also reported to our support team, that some of you are seeing two versions of Classic on you Pre phones. We’d like to explain why this is happening and what you should do to fix this.
The users experiencing this are the users on networks other than Sprint, and it occurs because the catalog technology Palm uses does not allow for submission of the app with the same name. Meaning that when we want to submit Classic for other providers (in Europe and Canada), it is technically impossible to name it “Classic”.
What you should do is delete both versions of Classic you have and then download the app from the App Catalog as you see it, because this differs depending on the network provider (and thus the catalog) you are using. After this, you will see one Classic app only and your data from before will be saved and available in Classic after you install it.
We apologize to all of you experiencing this issue; however, we were not able to avoid it.

Guest blogger series No.1 post: LJP and Classic
While we’re waiting for the issue known as “1.3.1 issue” fix to be released, we thought to bring in the special series of blog posts, written by our users. Stunned by the passion for games Mr. LJZaur wrote about in the Classic forum at Precentral.net, we asked him to publish his post as the first “guest blogger post” in the series.
So, no more talk, here’s the original write-up. Let the games begin.
(Thanks John!)
Anxious and want to just play? Skip the next paragraph.
If you couldn't tell from my name, I LOVE LJP. I was actually at the original forum it started at, and had its first iteration, LJZ. Anyways, I'm not going to bother you about the history of why I love it so much, since if you're anything like me, you're Craving for some good ol' nostalgia. Here's what I did: I figured that since there were so many iterations of LJZ, and many of the newer ones just added more systems and functionality, that I could do without those and just return to one of the older ones. I also thought there might also be something with the newer ones that's messing it up for Classic. So that's just what I did. At first, I couldn't decide between the .9 release, or the RC 1.0 release. I went with RC 1.0 (mainly since it had the psi installer).
SO! Install RC 1.0 (I haven't checked what the latest release the maps to buttons is-too busy playing Final Fantasy :P), and play away! The system controls map only to the buttons on screen, and (I think) only when that keyboard has the letters on it. In other words, buttons only map to T,B,D,K (up, down, left, right), the space bar, P,Q, return, and the orange button. I've found that the games play well, but can lag a lot when sound is either on or simulated. I should also note that, at least for me, SNES games still require too much memory to even work, even with UDMH (a program that expands the amount of memory given to an application, such as LJP).
There are still minor issues (lack of full keyboard mapping, lack of memory-although I think that's caused by a lack of memory going to Classic in general, lag when sound is on, having to press down for about a second on the screen before the game recognizes it), but none of those keep it from being playable.
Enjoy!
As for how to actually get the app, download it from here: Little John PalmOS
If you just install the PSI Installer for LJP 1.0 RC2, then it will install itself onto the system and create the necessary folders, but this is where you would find them (if you're Pre's connected as a USB): Pre's name=>Classic=>then there should be two folders (I think), one labeled Install (which is where you put applications you want on the "device" part of the Classic app, but then, and I'm not sure whether you need to manually add it in or not, there should be another folder called Palm, and that should act just like it did in the older Palm devices; there should be a DCIM, Launcher, and Programs folder under it. The Programs folder is where you would go to find all the LJP stuff.
So, in short: Classic=>Palm=>Programs=>LJP=> whichever system you want.

Classic v2.0.1 is out and about
New in the App Catalog for November 12th includes a free update of Classic for existing users, so all of you can head over to the Classic listing in the Catalog and download it.
The most important brought to you with this update are major improvements in Classic performance, but we also improved overall user experience: tweaked a few menu options and added notifications that will enable you get help from us faster than before in certain cases. We also fixed some minor bugs, but in this post, we’d like to report about it all in the form of a little homage to our people in the Classic forum at PreCentral.
psm9 is reporting that a “weird bug with unresponsiveness is fixed”, iamtina appreciates the speed in v2.0.1, bbaratz also notices that touch screen unresponsiveness is now fixed and doctorzeph summarizes all these and questions if it is just imagination. It’s real, and we are happy that we managed to improve it for you.
Thanks to ChasT for spreading the word.
Now we go back to work on remaining issues, but before that, we might celebrate v2.0.1 release a little based on what TomJ reports about the essential app for celebrating:)

Pocket Quicken now Classic Certified
Over the past couple of weeks, we worked with Pocket Quicken crew from LandWare, to Certify the app for Classic, and thus make official all the positive reports we received from you.The reports agree in one thing: this valuable app is working well in Classic, and is recommended by longtime Palm OS users as well as new Palm webOS adopters. The release of HotSync ability with Classic v2.0 only closed the circle, and as the member of Classic forum, ssrjazz said: “My Pocket quicken loves you”. Current Pocket Quicken owner Charles W. reports: “Got it! Works great without any [pop-up] notice.” And Renee M. simply states: “Thank you. It works.”
If you are new to Pocket Quicken, here is a short description: “Pocket Quicken places your financial activity at your fingertips making it easy to keep your financial information complete, accurate and up-to-date wherever you go.” More details, features and screenshots are available here. LandWare is also excited to announce that their software can also sync with Quicken 2010 and Windows 7.The Classic Certified file can be downloaded from LandWare website where you’ll also find excellent instructions on how to set it up. If you are not already a Pocket Quicken owner, you can install the software as a fully functional 30-day trial. We’re also featuring it in the list of Classic Certified apps. If you are a developer, you can learn why and how to Certify your app here.
(Thanks to LandWare and MotionApps support team for contributing to this post)
